SOL AR HOUSE COLOR SP

With nature as inspiration, an environment that instigates the five senses marks the participation of Plantar Ideias at CASACOR São Paulo 2022

A bold project by the architecture office explores the sensoriality within a space where nature and technology blend in harmony.

Felipe Stracci and Luciana Pitombo, the duo of architects responsible for Plantar Ideias, propose several ideas applicable in an immersive environment at the 35th edition of CASACOR, which this year takes place at Conjunto Nacional, on Avenida Paulista, São Paulo.

The space idealized by the architecture and landscaping office Plant Ideas is proof of how it is possible to create environments that reinterpret a natural landscape within a built and urban space. Therefore, whoever is inspired by the environment created for CASACOR São Paulo 2022, which takes place on Avenida Paulista, the heart of the metropolis of São Paulo, will have numerous replicable ideas, such as terrariums, screens, furniture and the technique for installing floors, lighting and much more. To recreate the natural air, topographies were used in CNC-cut MDF, applied on a floor that recalls the patios of old houses with maxi-shards of ceramics and burnt cement. To the color palette of the environment designed by Felipe Stracci and Luciana Pitombo it is composed of earthy tones and a Sun recreated with iridescent glass.

Named as Solar, the space of Plant Ideas Creates a large square, like a courtyard, which will receive visitors in 170m? and connects to seven other areas of the event, acting as a central reception point for the visiting public.

Immersed in the CASACOR theme of that year, based on the conjecture of Private Infinite”, the professionals explain that the concept and inspiration for the project shown in the 35th edition “are revealed by the lightness, harmony and tropicality that nature, in its different forms, can promote in each of us, as well as the search for experiences more subtle and delicate features of a landscape that expresses biodiversity and are integrated with elements of the visual arts”. The professionals brought to the space a series of natural elements such as straw, ceramics, vegetation itself, sand, among other elements that refer to nature, but in an affective way.

One of the proposals of the place is to provoke, in whoever is there, a sensory experience by stimulating our five senses: the taste, for the delicious coffee offered by Starbucks), the smell, through the dry eucalyptus leaves in the beds that were placed to flavor the environment; touch, with pieces of straw; and vision, due to the harmonic composition in the environment and beautiful, authorial pieces, such as the iridescent synthetic sun that illuminates the entire space and the organic MDF screen, inspired by the work “Os bichos”, by Brazilian sculpture Lygia Clark.

CASACOR veterans Felipe and Luciana – who have already participated in the São Paulo editions of 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 - detail the essence of the project they built, exploring the richness and refinement in the details: “We seek to translate the elements, conception and experiences that most influence our work such as the lightness and subtlety of the lighting that gains the power of a physical element with a large mirrored sun projecting an orange spectrum of light bathing the space completely, in a direct influence that we idealized through the work carried out by the Icelandic-Danish artist Olafur Eliasson”, specify the professionals about the solar piece installed in the environment.

The architects' look at the aesthetics of the plastic arts also includes the influence of Lygia Clark with her series of works called Bichos, unstable structures that question physical certainty. “The pieces fit together in different ways and the result of the assembly is unique, organic and creates a ludic landscape that completes the landscape of Sol: Ar”, explain the architects about another exquisite highlight of the project: the organic screen that also reminds us of Monstera Delicious, a species of plant popularly known as Costela-de-Adão.

However, the tributes and honors to icons of the plastic arts, the authorial work of the To plant is in every inch of the project, which features original furniture. “Practically all the furniture is signed by us and is part of the collections that we launched with a focus on pieces for outdoor areas”, explain the professionals who were also inspired by the architectural projects of balconies and old backyards to compose the space.

Reaffirming the vein of professionals as designers for the outdoor life scene, the Tropics Line, which is in the environment with pieces designed exclusively for this edition of CASACOR, is made with a mixture of prefabricated cement and natural fibers from the banana tree, hand-braided. The pieces do not accumulate water, are resistant to weather and ideal for external environments. The well-known Bichos da Serrinha, inspired by the fauna of the Atlantic Forest and launched at SP-Arte 2020, are also present. Produced with metal and electrostatic painting, they are “furniture inspired by indigenous art that, in a playful way, refer to animals from the Atlantic forest such as the
Hedgehog, Lamanduá-mirim, Bugio and Toucano-mirim”, describe the architects about the furniture that was singularly placed in the Solar.

Intuiting to be a decompression point for the public that will visit the exhibition, in addition to a bleacher set up with an unprecedented Duratex plate and space to recharge the cell phone, in addition to the architectural art, the space will exhibit a mural with more than 20 meters of extension made by the Congolese artist Lavi Israel, executed with Coral paints.

In addition to all the artistic and conceptual refinement, the Sol: Ar space will raise another very precious issue for the Plantar Ideias office: responsibility towards nature and issues related to the environment. “The ceramic-organic floor covering will be used in its entirety, where the shards of the floor will also be applied, as well as industrial waste from the process, resulting in zero waste of the material produced”, clarify Felipe and Luciana, who also proposed a way of reusing everything that was done in the space, through modular and dry construction, allowing the use of replicable modular pieces that will be disassembled after the show and reused, in their entirety, in other works.

ABOUT THE PLANTAR IDEAS OFFICE

Plantar Ideias started its activities in 2016 with activities highlighted by the different scales of design for external areas and the purpose of creating objects and places that promote well-being and contact with nature. In the search for the office, pieces, places and cities owe the balance between creativity and technique, come as harmony, lightness and tropicality — whether in the urban environment or
natural, public or private.

The design development of the projects is unique and bears the signature of Brazilian tropicality combined with a proper understanding of the needs and challenges that each project proposes. At Plantar Ideias, we believe that defining the future of a place involves a collective, contextual and value-oriented exercise.

Through projects, diverse perspectives are affirmed, combined disciplines, open exchange, deep involvement with clients and communities, commitment to history and context, curiosity about new ways of thinking and creation based on data and technologies
emerging technologies, which lead to stronger design.

Founded by Felipe Stracci and Luciana Pitombo, the architects combined their expertise in technical knowledge of architecture projects and the elaboration of large urban projects with botanical and landscaping know-how, developing a way of planning and executing translated into a more sensitive and accurate approach to the issues of the natural environment and the construction of the landscape, be it through furniture, a garden or a city. The desire is to design better living, leisure, rest and learning spaces for people.
